The flag of Palestine, with the four dimensions and the dimensions and measurements adopted by the Palestine Liberation Organization, shall be the official flag of the country, such that the flag is divided horizontally into three equal, parallel parts of one width, the upper being black, the middle white and the lower green, and its width shall be equal to half its length, with a red triangle on the side of the hoist whose base is equal to the width of the flag and whose height is equal to one third of the length of the flag.
Flag of the State of Palestine:
The flag of the State is considered a symbol of sovereignty and a banner of pride and unity, embodying the aspiration of a struggling, proud people, for which heroes have sacrificed themselves and been martyred.
The flag flutters, proclaiming itself with the red arrow of sacrifices, with the green of our deep-rooted olive trees, its black leading to right and sovereignty, and its abundant, pure white from the spirit of the Nativity, Al-Aqsa and the Resurrection.
As for the current flag, which has become the flag of the Palestinian people, it was chosen by Sharif Hussein in June 1916 to be the flag of the Arab Revolt against the Turks.
The Palestinians used the flag to signify the Palestinian national movement in the period between 1917-1947, and then the flag was recognised by the League of Arab States as the flag of the Palestinian people
At the first meeting, on (28-5-1964), the Palestinian National Council laid down its National Charter, and Article (27) thereof provided that Palestine shall have a flag, an oath and an anthem, and its colours were specified in order as follows: green, then white, then black, with a red triangle.
On (1-12-1964), the Executive Committee of the Liberation Organization laid down a special regulation for the flag specifying its measurements and dimensions, and the black and green colours each took the place of the other, and with the launch of the Palestinian Revolution on 1/1 1965 it adopted the flag as its emblem. On 15 November 1988, the Palestine Liberation Organization adopted the flag to be the flag of the Palestinian State.
Upon the establishment of the Palestinian National Authority in 1994, this flag was used as the flag of the Palestine Liberation Organization and the flag of the State of Palestine, and it was raised over all government headquarters and national institutions, and a law concerning it was issued in 2005 and amended in 2006.
