Sufficient information is not available on the use of banners or flags in Yemen, and the subject can be confined to describing the national flag of the Mutawakkilite Kingdom of Yemen, whose colour was red, with four stars distributed at its corners and the fifth in the middle of the flag above the sword that extends along the length of the flag, and it shows features of influence by the style of Turkish flags.
As for the national flag in the republican era, the flag of the Yemen Arab Republic was influenced in its form by the Egyptian flag, which was in turn influenced by the French flag in terms of the distribution of the colours and their meaning and the absence of the stars and crescent that prevailed in flags of Turkish influence. The flag of the Yemen Arab Republic consisted of three colours, namely: red, then white, then black, successively symbolizing the revolution, peace and the end of oppression, and in its middle is a green star as a symbol of fertility.
As for the People's Democratic Republic of Yemen, the national flag almost resembles in its colours the flag in the North, with the addition of a blue triangle in the middle of which is a red star, signifying the revolutionary tendency and belonging to the socialist current
After unification, the flag came to consist of three colours, which are, in order from top to bottom: red, then white, then black, [...] This flag replaced the flags of the two states of the two parts of Yemen, which were in a form slightly different from it.

There is widespread recruitment of fighters by numerous armed groups operating in Yemen; all parties to the civil war have been implicated in child soldier recruitment and use; in 2022, the Houthis signed a plan with the UN to end the recruitment and use of child soldiers; Houthi leaders previously pledged to end the use of child soldiers in 2012, as did the Government of Yemen in 2014; in 2019, the Saudi and UAE-led coalition committed to protect children in a memorandum of understanding signed with the UN.
